Warning signs for Real Madrid defensive trio after recent developments

Warning signs for Real Madrid defensive trio after recent developments Marc Cucurella’s arrival at Real Madrid may have solved one problem for Jose Mourinho, but it has immediately created another. The Spanish international was officially announced as the new Real Madrid player after completing his move from Chelsea.  However, according to AS , the transfer has now placed the futures of Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy under serious threat. With Cucurella joining Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia and Mendy in the left-back department, Real Madrid suddenly find themselves overloaded in one position.  As a result, the club is now actively exploring ways to reduce the squad while also recovering part of the investment made to bring Cucurella to the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid ready to part ways with Garcia and Mendy According to the aforementioned outlet, Real Madrid were working under a clear plan. The club first focused on securing Cucurella, a player Mourinho had identified as a priority target, and once that operation was completed, attention shifted towards trimming the squad and making room for the new arrival. On that note, Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy have emerged as the main candidates to leave . Fran Garcia’s future is uncertain at Real Madrid. Mendy’s case is more complicated. On the other hand, Mendy is currently sidelined with an injury and is not expected to return until November. That situation has significantly reduced his market value and made a conventional transfer extremely difficult. While Real Madrid would ideally like to move Mendy on, finding a buyer remains a major challenge. The defender’s injury concerns, combined with his salary package, have left the club with limited options. His annual gross salary is estimated to cost Real Madrid around €9 million per season. As a result, the club may need to explore alternative solutions. One possibility being considered is a contract termination similar to the approach used during Eden Hazard’s departure.  Such an agreement would allow Real Madrid to save part of Mendy’s wages while bringing an early end to his spell at the club. What about Carreras? Chelsea are interested in Alvaro Carreras. As reported before, Real Madrid are closely monitoring Chelsea’s interest in Alvaro Carreras .  Should the Spanish defender receive a serious offer and eventually leave, Real Madrid’s need to offload additional left-backs would become far less urgent. At this moment, Cucurella’s arrival has dramatically altered the landscape. Real Madrid invested heavily to bring the Spanish international back to La Liga, and Mourinho is expected to build around him.  That leaves Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy fighting for their futures at a club that increasingly appears ready to move in a different direction.
