Real Madrid legend gives his verdict on Marc Cucurella signing: ‘Without a doubt, it’s a good move’ Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid continues to generate discussion across Spanish football, and one former Los Blancos star has made it clear that he fully supports the club’s decision. Speaking recently, former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado offered his thoughts on the arrival of the Spanish international from Chelsea .  The former-right-back believes Real Madrid have secured one of the best players available in his position and expects the signing to strengthen the squad significantly. Cucurella recently completed his transfer from Chelsea after Real Madrid moved to beat off competition and finalise the deal.  While debate has surrounded both the fee and the timing of the announcement, Salgado sees only positives from the operation. Salgado hails Real Madrid’s decision Salgado believes Cucurella is among the elite left-backs currently playing the game and highlighted both his experience and his suitability for Real Madrid. To me, he’s currently one of the hottest left backs in the world.” The former Spain international also pointed to Cucurella’s experience in English football and European competition as key factors behind his assessment. “He already has experience at Chelsea at the highest level, in the Champions League and in all the major competitions. “ Beyond his footballing qualities, Salgado also stressed the importance of strengthening the Spanish identity within the squad. “He’s Spanish, and I think it’s also important, in a way, for Real Madrid to once again have a slightly more Spanish core.  “And that’s not to dismiss other players. It’s just that, ultimately, on a team representing your country, you need a strong group of players in the locker room to bring that personality,” he added. From his perspective, securing a dream move to Real Madrid is more likely to boost a player’s confidence than create additional pressure. “From a player’s perspective, I think it can have a positive effect on you. Because if you’ve signed with Madrid, it’s the best moment of your life.  “That brings greater joy, not nervousness. Quite the opposite. It’s a celebration of who you are as a person and as a player.  “The signing was announced on game day, just as it could have been announced tomorrow or in two days,” he noted. Recommendations for Real Madrid Perhaps the most interesting part of Salgado’s interview came when he was asked which Spanish players he would bring to the Santiago Bernabeu. Without hesitation, he answered, “I’d sign a lot of them.” He then added, “The national team has the best players in the world. I’d sign Fabian, Pedri, Nico, Lamine… I’d bring them all to Real Madrid, without a doubt.”
