Confirmed: Real Madrid sign Bernardo Silva on a two-year contract until 2028
Confirmed: Real Madrid sign Bernardo Silva on a two-year contract until 2028 Only a couple of days after announcing the signing of Marc Cucurella, Real Madrid have now confirmed their second signing of the summer in the form of Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese international has signed a two-year contract with the club, committing until the summer of 2028. “Real Madrid CF and Bernardo Silva have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028,” the club statement read. Bernardo left Manchester City at the end of the last season when his contract expired. The 31-year-old versatile playmaker was a much-coveted player in the market with several top clubs like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus vying for his signature. Real Madrid had previously been offered Silva’s services but were not too keen on the signing. However, the appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager changed everything, as the Portuguese tactician was intent on working with his compatriot and pushed for his signing. And, now, Silva has successfully signed for Real Madrid on a two-year contract, with reports suggesting that there is an option for an additional year which can be activated based on the number of appearances. Silva joins Cucurella in being announced as Real Madrid’s latest signings, with Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries also expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days. The Portuguese international can prove to be a key short-term signing for Real Madrid, with his versatility, experience, leadership and winning mentality.
