West Brom sign Falkirk striker Stewart
West Bromwich Albion have signed striker Barney Stewart from Scottish Premiership side Falkirk for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old joins the Baggies on a four-year contract and becomes head coach James Morrison's first new recruit of the summer. Stewart made his first-team debut for Falkirk in January 2025 and played 15 times as the club won promotion from the second tier to the Scottish Premiership. He scored eight goals in 12 appearances during a loan spell back in the Championship with Dunfermline Athletic in the first half of last season, before returning to the Bairns and scoring 10 times in 21 league and cup matches. Stewart, a Scotland Under-21 international, said the fact that his new boss Morrison won 46 caps for the country was an important part of the move. "I had a great chat with the manager. He won loads of caps for Scotland and he's got loads of contacts up there, so he knows lots about me," Stewart told the club's website. "I'm so excited by the challenge of playing in the Championship. It's one of the best leagues in the world to watch. To be a part of the division will be incredible. "I come to life around the box, that's my speciality. I'm very confident I can score the goals here at the Albion."
