The ICC Technical Committee approved a request for 23-year-old Maguire to step in for all-rounder Canning who suffered a back injury in Ireland's opening Group B defeat by Scotland on Saturday. Canning was replaced in the starting line-up by Louise Little in Tuesday's defeat by England, with the 22-year-old sent for a precautionary scan that revealed a stress fracture in her back. That result means the Typhoons star will return home to begin rehabilitation, with Maguire approved to join the squad and will be eligible to play in Friday's game against New Zealand in Hampshire [18:30 BST]. Maguire, whose sister Aimee is part of the Ireland squad, looked set to miss out on the tournament when suffering a knee injury during domestic action in May, but is now eligible to face the White Ferns. Both sides are without a win in the tournament after two games a face an uphill task for a top-two finish in the group which would secure a semi-final place. Following Friday's game against New Zealand, Ireland will take on Sri Lanka on 23 June before concluding their group campaign against West Indies on 27 June.
