The 32-year-old has been considering the League Two side's offer of a new deal since the end of last season and has now committed his immediate future to the Railwaymen until next summer. Thomas has been with the Alex since the start of the 2022-23 season after joining on a free transfer from Cheltenham Town. He has made 128 appearances since and scored five goals. "I'm very pleased. This will be my fifth year here, and over that time you get to know what it means to the place and the fans," he told the club's website. "I think footballers play their best football when they are happy, on and off the pitch, and a lot goes into that. I feel I've become part of the community and that is important." Crewe boss Lee Bell said he was "really pleased" Thomas was staying adding he was a player who "I lean on a lot". Thomas is the second player this week to sign a new contract after striker Josh March agreed a 12-month extension to his deal.
