Saliba: I want to become an Arsenal legend
Saliba: I want to become an Arsenal legend Willliam Saliba says he wants to become an Arsenal legend by winning more trophies in north London, and he’s aiming for no more trophyless seasons. Photo by Shaun Botterill/Getty Images William Saliba has been one of the stars of Arsenal’s team for a few years now, and he finally capped his strong performances in England with a Premier League winner’s medal in 2025/26. Yet Saliba doesn’t consider himself to be an Arsenal legend just yet, and he thinks he still needs to win more with the club if he’s going to attain that status in north London. From now on, the French international believes Arsenal can’t have any more trophyless campaigns. It’s fantastic, we won, we celebrated the title. But as soon as the season starts again, we’re back to winning again. There’s no question of stopping here. “We’ve made Arsenal history, but I want to become a legend. To do that, we need to create a dynasty, to win again.” Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images Arsenal will quickly have the opportunity for more silverware in August, as they face Manchester City in the Community Shield. Saliba already has two Community Shields to his name, having been on the bench for the win over Liverpool in 2020, before playing the full match in the win over Manchester City in 2023. But adding a third would be a nice way to kick off 2026/27. After that, the real work begins, with Arsenal aiming to defend their Premier League title, win a domestic cup for the first time since 2020, and earn that elusive first Champions League title.
