Elye Wahi gains entry to Canada on appeal and available to play in Côte d’Ivoire’s second World Cup game

Elye Wahi gains entry to Canada on appeal and available to play in Côte d’Ivoire’s second World Cup game After initially being denied entry into Canada, Elye Wahi (23) has been granted entry into the country upon appeal, according to a report from RMC Sport . The OGC Nice forward was refused entry into the FIFA World Cup host nation after recently being arrested on suspicion of match fixing.  The Athletic  reported that the Côte d’Ivoire international had been arrested at the end of May while in France following an investigation into potential match fixing. After several bets on Wahi receiving a yellow card were reported to the French Football Federation (FFF), an investigation was launched by the anti-corruption unit. With the investigation still ongoing, no charges have been brought against the forward and he has been released.  Wahi available to play against Germany Initially denied entry into Canada, the forward was ruled out of featuring for the African nation when they prepared to face Germany in their second match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Nevertheless, with entry now permitted, he should be free to play against the German national team.  GFFN | Liam Wraith
