Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images Arsenal have confirmed that the fans have voted Max Dowman’s goal against Everton in March as their Goal of the Season, earning 38% of the total votes cast. Martin Zubimendi finished in second place, with 17% of the votes going to his volley against Nottingham Forest. Then Leah Williamson’s header against Leicester City came third with 11%. Arsenal highlight that it was a historic campaign for Dowman, as he became the Premier League’s youngest goalscorer, the league’s second-youngest player (only behind Ethan Nwaneri ), the competition’s youngest-ever starter, and the youngest Premier League winner. The technique behind the goal was excellent, as Dowman showed composure and skill to beat multiple players on the way to tapping into the empty net. Then the context around the goal made it even better. It was Dowman’s first-ever goal for Arsenal, and it sealed a vital win for the team on the way to the Premier League title. The pressure was on in that moment, making Dowman’s individual skill even more impressive. The eventual finish was a simple one, but everything else about the goal is what made it Arsenal’s Goal of the Season. For now, Dowman will have the summer off to reflect on his first season, and to rest up for the next one. Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images
