A major deal finally edges closer to completion for Manchester City
A major deal finally edges closer to completion for Manchester City Signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest this summer is Manchester City’s major priority in this summer’s transfer window. So far, City have been frustrated in their efforts to sign the England international. As David Ornstein has previously reported for The Athletic , Nottingham Forest rejected City’s offer of £106 million plus £15 million in add-ons for Anderson. After that bid was rejected by Forest, it was clear that Manchester City would have to go big to sign their top target to bolster their midfield. Fabrizio Romano has reported that City are now confident of finally completing a deal with Nottingham Forest to sign Elliot Anderson. Once that deal is in place, it should free City up to focus on other transfer business. Manchester City are now confident of signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Manchester City’s efforts to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Romano reports that Manchester City are now confident of finally signing the midfield workhorse. After talks between the two clubs continued since City’s massive bid was rejected, a deal between the two clubs is now in the final stages. Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano reports that Elliot Anderson is expected to undergo his Manchester City medical in the United States once the deal is finalised. Anderson is currently on international duty with England at the World Cup. The Nottingham Forest midfielder put in a strong performance in England’s 4-2 win over Croatia in their opening Group L fixture, further emphasising his obvious qualities and what he could add to the Manchester City midfield. Once the Elliot Anderson deal is completed it should free up City to focus on other transfer business. Signing Elliot Anderson has been the major priority for Manchester City for some time. The Nottingham Forest midfielder’s strengths will add a different dimension to Manchester City’s midfield.. Furthermore, the energy and work rate of Anderson will give City a different dimension in midfield. Of course, all of that is dependent on Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis not changing his demands to sell Elliot Anderson. Based on Fabrizio Romano’s new update, there is little chance of that occurring at this stage. Once the Elliot Anderson deal is agreed, Manchester City can move on to other priorities in the transfer market. City do have a host of other positions to strengthen this summer. Signing another midfielder, a right-back, a winger and a backup keeper look to be other areas of City’s squad that will need to be addressed. When the Elliot Anderson deal is complete, Hugo Viana can then move onto those items that need to be addressed. Also, City can focus on outgoings as there will be a host of player who will leave the club this summer. Manchester City are seemingly on the verge of signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. That is great news and after that deal is complete, City can move on to other transfer business in what looms as a busy and pivotal summer for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders.
