Real Madrid set for €7.5 million revenue boost as former defender closes in on Napoli move

Real Madrid set for €7.5 million revenue boost as former defender closes in on Napoli move Real Madrid have made quite a few moves in the market this summer, notably bolstering their defensive unit by signing Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries. The club continue to monitor some of the defensive talents across Europe, with Alessandro Bastoni notably being back on the agenda. However, Los Blancos would require significant capital in order to make a move for the Italian international, who is set to cost a fortune. Speaking of Italy, Real Madrid could be set for a minor economic boost as one of their former players is closing in on a move to Napoli. The Italian giants are expected to pay around €15 million for his services. This comes on the back of Gila’s excellent spell at Lazio, a club he joined after leaving RM Castilla in the summer of 2022. In four years, Gila had become a defensive maintain stay at Lazio, notably racking up 120 competitive appearances for the club. Gila’s performances were such that he was even linked with a return to Real Madrid at one point, but that never materialised. Such a possibility has been ruled out as well, as the club embark on a new adventure under Jose Mourinho. What it means for Real Madrid Mario Gila was linked with a return to Real Madrid once. (Photo by Tullio M. Puglia/Getty Images) Mario Gila’s expected move to Napoli could be consequential for Real Madrid as Los Blancos still hold a 50% sell-on fee clause. That means the Spanish giants are entitled to half the transfer fee of Gila’s move to Napoli, which stands at around €15 million as per current reports. This translates to a figure of around €7.5 million that Real Madrid could be entitled to, once the defender’s move to Napoli is finalised. Although insignificant, Real Madrid would welcome any revenue uptick at this stage of the transfer window, as the club look to sign more players and further reinforce the team heading into the new season.
