Real Madrid tried to buy him then released a statement, Atletico Madrid responded, now Barcelona’s very public attempts to court him have resulted in the Argentine saying publicly he wants to go. Atletico have responded saying that’s not happening. It’s all a complete mess for Diego Simeone’s team. PSG sitting tight in Alvarez chase PSG’s position at this point is pretty clear – sit tight and wait. It’s obvious they would love to sign Alvarez, but it remains a distant dream. This whole farrago could play into their hands however – if Alvarez burns his bridges with Atletico, but the Spanish side don’t want to sell to Barcelona, PSG become the obvious choice, and the Parisians might even get a reduced price if Alvarez really makes things difficult for Atletico. Fabrizio Romano played down the chances of PSG returning for a second go at Alvarez, so chances remain clim. But if a deal can’t be worked out with Barcelona, don’t be surprised to see it revived. In other news… PSG are losing a lot of talented young players this summer – and some in the media are concerned about how many are walking away.
