Barcelona-linked Spain forward finally responds to transfer speculation: ‘I don’t waste much time on it’ Barcelona have been linked with several attacking players ahead of the new season, and one of the latest names to emerge is Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal .  While speculation surrounding his future continues to grow, the experienced Spain international insists his full attention remains on the FIFA World Cup. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo , Oyarzabal addressed the Barcelona rumours, spoke about his future at Real Sociedad and also shared his admiration for Lamine Yamal, who continues to shine for Spain. Oyarzabal responds to Barcelona links The 29-year-old has seen his name regularly linked with Barcelona in recent weeks , but he made it clear that transfer rumours are not occupying his thoughts during the tournament. Asked about the reported interest from the Catalan club, Oyarzabal admitted that such links are always a positive sign, while stressing that his priorities lie elsewhere. “If people are talking about it, it’s because they think you’re doing things right, but I don’t attach much importance to it or waste much time on such things. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images) “Right now, I’m focused here, on this World Cup, on trying to help the team in whatever way I can, in the matches to come – whether I’m playing or not – trying to help the team and ensure we do well as a group, which is what really counts.” The Spain forward also responded to questions about his long-term future at Real Sociedad, where he has spent his entire professional career. Despite ongoing speculation, Oyarzabal revealed there has been no urgency regarding a new contract. “I’m not worried. I’ve said it a thousand times: Real Sociedad and Donosti are my home. It’s my safe haven, where I’ve grown up, and Real Sociedad is the club that’s given me the chance to be here today. “So, in that respect, I’m not worried – I’m not fretting about it. We haven’t discussed a contract renewal yet. (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images) The experienced attacker admitted that the teenager’s achievements are extraordinary, particularly considering his age. “I don’t think even he’s fully aware of it, and I don’t think people outside the team realise what it means for an 18-year-old. “Not to mention what happened at the last European Championship when he was just 16 – what it means for a lad of his age to do what he’s doing and make such an impact.” Lastly, Oyarzabal also explained why sharing the pitch with Yamal has become such an advantage for Spain’s attack. “Playing alongside him makes all the difference. He causes a lot of chaos for the opposition simply by his presence, simply by what he’s capable of doing.  “And ultimately, we have to try to capitalise on that and look to make the most of what he creates and what we can contribute individually – to make the most of what he does,” he concluded.
