Defender Perry signs new long-term contract
Coventry City defender Callum Perry has signed a new long-term deal to extend his stay at the club. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at National League side Rochdale , where he made 25 appearances and scored a penalty in the play-off final at Wembley to help them seal a spot in League Two - having agonisingly missed out on automatic promotion to York City on the last day. A product of the Sky Blues' academy set-up, the centre-back has featured for under-18s and captained the under-21s in the Premier League Cup. He has also been named on the bench for the first team. "I'm buzzing to sign a new contract," Perry told club media. "I have been at Coventry for a long time now and I love the people involved in and around the club, so I'm really glad that I'm going to be staying here. "Last year was really beneficial for me, getting those experiences playing at Wembley and the massive game against York on the last day of the season. "Being in men's football and learning the game was really important, so I've got a lot of people to thank at Rochdale. It has set me up for what is hopefully going to be a big year for me. "I want to come back as fit as possible and be ready to play football again."
