The 26-year-old finished the 2025-26 season on loan at Cheltenham Town, where he scored one goal in 16 League Two appearances. Davison started his career with Charlton Athletic, taking in loan spells at Woking, Forest Green Rovers and Swindon Town. He joined AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee in 2022 before moving to Tranmere two years later. Shrewsbury boss Gavin Cowan told the club's website: "We played against him a couple of times last season. In that first game against Tranmere, he really showed a lot of the qualities we're looking for. "Now it's about helping him get back to scoring goals, which is something we're confident he'll do with us." The Shrews finished 19th in League Two last season and they begin the new season at Salford City in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday, 8 August.
