Official | Lyon and Marseille handed DNCG sanctions
Official | Lyon and Marseille handed DNCG sanctions Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Marseille have both been hit with sanctions from the DNCG – Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion, French football’s financial watchdog. Both clubs were expected to be hit with sanctions as they posted record losses in recent years, which were partly down to the collapse of the domestic broadcasting revenues affecting Ligue 1. UEFA has already penalized OM . Their failure at directly qualifying for the lucrative UEFA Champions League group stage – Lyon have only qualified for the 3rd qualifying round – didn’t help their case when presenting their budget for the season ahead. Both clubs are in dire need to sell their most marketable assets to balance the books. Lyon have started already in selling Afonso Moreira to Bayer Leverkusen for €32m, whereas OM are scrambling to part ways with Mason Greenwood. The DNCG has hit Lyon with the management of their wage bill following the change in club ownership. Marseille have been handed a similar sanction, as well as the monitoring of their transfer activity. GFFN | Bastien Cheval
