AFC Wimbledon appoint Morrison as First Team coach
Morrison's playing career of over 600 EFL appearances ended with Cambridge United winning promotion into League One in 2025-2026 [Getty Images] AFC Wimbledon have appointed Michael Morrison as first-team coach. The 38-year-old former centre-half played played more than 750 games for seven clubs, including Charlton and Birmingham. He lifted the League One title with both Reading and Charlton and helped Cambridge to promotion from League Two last season before announcing his retirement from playing. Morrison told the Dons' website: "I always wanted to move into coaching when my career as a player finished. Wimbledon is a club which is greatly connected from the fans right through to what you see on the pitch." Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson added: "Michael is an exciting young coach, who is really keen to make his mark on the coaching side of football. He has vast experience in the EFL and was captain at the majority of clubs that he played for."
