Real Madrid shift transfer focus after completing four signings

Real Madrid shift transfer focus after completing four signings Real Madrid moved surprisingly quickly, even by their own standards, this summer to tie down several new reinforcements for their team for the upcoming 2026-27 season. They have already signed four new players, including Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, and Denzel Dumfries. While these new players are all exciting new additions, and would provide Jose Mourinho with a lot of quality, their arrival has still lead to another problem for the Merengue club, i.e., that of overbooking. As things stand, including these new players, Real Madrid’s squad size currently stands at 27 players, if the midfielder Thiago Pitarch is also considered as a first-team player. In such a context, the white club understands that it urgently needs to address some departures. In fact, Diario AS reports that Real Madrid are now clear that they would complete several exit operations before signing any new players. As things stand, the Merengues have already parted ways with Dani Ceballos, but still have seven more players for whom they are open to listening to offers, including Fran Garcia, Raul Asencio , Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Brahim Diaz, Franco Mastantuono, and Gonzalo Garcia. However, most of these departures remain suspended, as Mourinho wants to see the players first hand before making a decision about their futures. The Portuguese coach would do so once the preseason training starts on 13 th July. Even without the registration of newly signed players, only four first-team shirt numbers are currently available, not counting Ceballos’ 19, i.e., 2, 4, 9, and 25. The number 9 is expected to be taken by Endrick as he returns from his loan at Lyon, which leaves only 3 numbers available. Thus, even though Mourinho still reportedly wants a new center-back and a midfielder, news about departures might come before those of new arrivals at Real Madrid.
