Richard Hughes now ready to discuss £60m forward deal
Richard Hughes now ready to discuss £60m forward deal Liverpool are reported to be considering big changes up front this summer. Sporting director Richard Hughes reconstructed the attack last year through the acquisitions of Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. But the alterations during the current transfer window will be coming in the wide positions. Victor Munoz has already been signed - arriving on a €40m deal from Spanish side Osasuna. And of course Liverpool are right in the mix for Yan Diomande - that is if RB Leipzig decide to do business over the outstanding young Ivorian winger. Liverpool need winger clearout In order to accommodate these new faces some departures are inevitable. The outgoing Premier League champions will soon be waving goodbye to Mohamed Salah on an official basis - with the Egyptian King reaching an agreement to rip up his £400k per week deal one year early. Federico Chiesa may well join the 34-year-old in the departure lounge with Como among the teams said to be interested in bringing the Italian back home to Serie A. There is also a question to answer over Cody Gakpo . Gakpo linked with Liverpool exit The Dutchman, 27, agreed a mammoth new contract with Liverpool last summer - inking a deal worth £250k per week. However with the emergence of Rio Ngumoha - and Liverpool’s ongoing quest to sign wingers - the Netherlands international’s place in the team is all of a sudden up for debate . A favourite under Arne Slot Gakpo is being looked at by teams around the Premier League and in Europe - with Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Tottenham all thought to be in the running for the ex-PSV captain. Jurgen Klopp signed Gakpo from the Eredivisie giants for around £35m following the 2022 FIFA World Cup and sporting director Richard Hughes is seeking a big profit on the winger in the event of a sale. GambleAware.org £30 FREE CLAIM NOW Liverpool would talk about Gakpo sale at £60m That’s according to a new report from BBC Sport - which claims Gakpo’s asking price has been set at “upwards” of £60m for a deal this summer. “Any transfer would likely to cost upwards of £60m - a big profit considering Gakpo cost an initial £35m when signing from PSV Eindhoven after the World Cup in 2022,” the report reads. Following on from intense transfer interest at Bayern Munich Liverpool are keen to keep a pathway open for Rio Ngumoha’s ongoing development. Gakpo would be an impediment to that progress if he continues to hoover up the minutes - especially if his output remains as low as last season. Therefore a sale could satisfy all parties with Gakpo going on to enjoy a central role under a new manager and Liverpool creating space in the first XI for Ngumoha.
