The hunt for another midfielder is on for Manchester City Manchester City have made one strong move to bolster their midfield. Elliot Anderson will sign for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders for £116 million from Nottingham Forest, as reported by David Ornstein for The Athletic . Anderson will be a strong addition to City’s midfield and the England international already looms as a key player for City. However, signing another midfielder is a must for City. It now appears that attention will shift to adding another quality midfielder to their ranks for Manchester City as two players have been named as City transfer targets. Manchester City continues to track an Italian international but a move for a Moroccan sensation could be City’s big move. Now that City have a deal to sign Elliot Anderson ticked off, attention has shifted to which midfielder the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders will aim to sign. The rejuvenation of Manchester City’s midfield is only partially complete with the signing of Elliot Anderson. They do need one more proven midfielder bolster their engine room. Two players have been reported as Manchester City targets. First of all, Luke Edwards has reported for The Telegraph that Manchester City remain interested in signing Newcastle United’s combative midfielder Sandro Tonali. Edwards reports that despite Tottenham making the early running in signing Tonali, City remain in regular dialogue with Newcastle. The FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders have tracked the Italian international for oger a year Edwards also reports. As per Luke Edwards’ report, Newcastle expects Manchester City to step up their interest in signing Tonali with their move for Elliot Anderson now complete. Another midfielder that Manchester City could potentially move for is Lille and Morocco’s 18 year old midfield sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi. ESPN Deportes reporter Rodra has reported that City are the team that is best positioned to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. City seems unlikely to waste any time getting onto their next order of business. What seems clear is that the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders won’t be wasting any time in further strengthening their midfield. The signing of Elliot Anderson is the first move Manchester City have made to strengthen their midfield. Signing either Tonali or Ayyoub Bouaddi will complete Manchester City’s midfield rebuild. Signing either Sandro Tonali or Ayyoub Bouaddi would tremendously bolster Manchester City’s midfield. Tonali would add proven Premier League quality and the Italian midfielder is technically superb and a workhorse in midfield. Tonali’s strengths as a player would be a quality addition to City’s midfield. If Manchester City were to move for Ayyoub Bouaddi, they’d be signing a player who could be a premier midfielder for the next decade. Bouaddi is already established as a quality player and he has the potential to become a world-class midfielder. Manchester City are now on the hunt for another midfielder. Early reports suggest that Sandro Tonali or Ayyoub Bouaddi are the players that City will aim to sign. Either player would be a fine addition to City’s squad for vastly different reasons. It now remains to be seen which player City will aim to sign. With Elliot Anderson on his way to the Etihad, signing one more midfielder will complete the rejuvenation of Manchester City’s midfield.
