According to SPORT , the new Real Madrid manager contacted Guler shortly after Turkey’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup to reaffirm his confidence in the youngster and discuss what lies ahead in the 2026/27 season. The conversation arrives at an important moment for the attacking midfielder, whose role at Real Madrid has become a major talking point following the arrival of Bernardo Silva and the beginning of Mourinho’s new era. Mourinho’s assurance to Guler Turkey signed off from the World Cup with a victory over the United States , but the result was not enough to prevent an early exit from the tournament. The gesture is significant because the 21-year-old remains a player Mourinho has admired for several years.  During his time in Turkish football, Mourinho closely followed the development of the Real Madrid star and had even hoped to work with him at Fenerbahçe. The Real Madrid manager sees him as an important part of the squad but cannot guarantee the Turkish international a permanent place in the starting lineup. Instead, the youngster is expected to remain a regular option throughout the season, competing with Bernardo Silva and Jude Bellingham for places while continuing his development at Real Madrid.
