Barcelona not looking to pursue deadline-bound Serie A goalscorer – report In their pursuit of signing a new striker, Barcelona have seen themselves linked with several top players from across the globe playing in that position. One such player whose name was linked to the club not too long ago is Dusan Vlahovic, the Juventus striker whose continuity in Turin is a serious doubt. The player is looking for a change of scenery and the Catalans have appeared as an interested party on a number of occasions. There has, however, seemingly been no direct contact nor a bid as the Blaugrana have priority targets of their own . A deadline that does not matter to Barcelona As reported by SPORT , Juventus are frustrated with Vlahovic’s indecisiveness over the contract renewal they have proposed. The new deal features a lower salary with an option for the player to earn more through incentives, but he has yet to respond. Vlahovic appears set to leave Juventus. Barcelona’s stance on his signing, thus, becomes vital. Barcelona uninterested The Spanish outlet, however, also confirms that Barcelona are not interested in making any offer at the moment as they still maintain Julian Alvarez as their priority target. He is, by far, the name who generates the maximum internal consensus and Barcelona do not wish to change their roadmap now. Even if they do not sign Alvarez, their backup option is Eli Junior Kroupi and not Vlahovic. What deters them from signing the Juventus star, in particular, is his high wages which are not in line with the club’s objectives at the moment. How is Barcelona’s ‘Operation Alvarez’ going? Barcelona and Alvarez have both been putting serious pressure on Atletico Madrid in recent weeks to consider the player’s transfer to Catalonia, but the club refuse to budge. The absolute priority. (Photo by Charlotte Wilson/Getty Images) They are pushing for the player to join PSG or Arsenal, both of which the player is refusing in order to sign for Barcelona. His open statement after Argentina’s last game sets the stage for serious drama after the World Cup, and it remains to be seen what comes of his situation. Barcelona, for their part, remain focused and patient on the operation. With Vlahovic now set to decide his future in the coming days, the option to sign him will also likely disappear for Barcelona. They must, thus, now look to land one of their planned targets at any cost.
