There was also the chance that the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders would be in the market for another striker if Omar Marmoush left this summer. However, a new report indicates that Marmoush will not be leaving Manchester City as City are not in the market for another striker to provide cover for Erling Haaland. Manchester City are focusing on improving other areas of their squad and are not looking for an Omar Marmoush replacement. Simon Bajkowski has provided an update for Manchester Evening News on Manchester City’s intentions for this summer’s transfer window. Bajkowski reports that Manchester City are not actively looking for a replacement for Omar Marmoush. Instead, City are focused on strengthening other areas of their squad. Based on Bajkowski’s report, it seems highly likely that Omar Marmoush will remain at City next season. The only way that will change is if Marmoush requests a transfer and brings City an acceptable offer. A change of manager at City may provide Omar Marmoush with more opportunities. The 2025-26 season was a frustrating experience for Omar Marmoush. His season was interrupted by a knee injury he sustained early in the season. Also, he missed a month of the last campaign due to his participation at AFCON with Egypt. Marmoush made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, contributing 8 goals and 3 assists. However, his status in the Manchester City squad was as Erling Haaland’s backup rather than a consistent starter. It was rare to see Pep Guardiola deploy Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush together last season. By the time the 2025-26 season ended, Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo were City’s preferred options out wide. Marmoush can play on the left but he wasn’t given that opportunity.
