Liverpool respond to Yan Diomande snub as four elite alternatives emerge
Liverpool respond to Yan Diomande snub as four elite alternatives emerge Liverpool suffered a major setback in their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande. The Reds identified Diomande as their top target to replace Mohamed Salah, but it recently emerged the 19-year-old only wants to join Paris Saint-Germain . The Ivorian reportedly believes a move to PSG would offer him the best platform to challenge for major trophies and realise his dream of winning the Ballon d’Or . Liverpool have quickly turned their attention towards alternative targets as they look to bring in an elite forward who could replicate Salah’s attacking output. According to talkSPORT , the Reds are monitoring PSG’s Bradley Barcola as a strong alternative. Barcola has significantly enhanced his reputation as one of the best young forwards in Europe since joining the Ligue 1 giants in 2023. He has made 152 appearances across all competitions for PSG, with 39 goals and 37 assists to his name. But the France international was left frustrated with Luis Enrique’s decision to drop him for the Champions League final against Arsenal. Barcola wants to be the protagonist rather than a supporting actor, and so with two years left on his contract, a summer exit is highly likely. The 23-year-old is a dynamic forward who is highly rated for his explosive pace, composure under pressure and attacking output. As well as Barcola, Liverpool are also considering FC Koln’s Said El Mala, Brighton & Hove Albion star Yankuba Minteh and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo as alternatives to Diomande.
