Liverpool target Yan Diomandé on the verge of joining PSG from RB Leipzig
Liverpool target Yan Diomandé on the verge of joining PSG from RB Leipzig RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé (19) is on the verge of joining PSG, according to L’Equipe . The back-to-back Champions League winners have stolen a march on Liverpool in the race to sign the coveted Ivory Coast international. As reported by The Athletic on Sunday, Diomandé has informed the Ligue 1 side that he wanted to sign for them this summer. Diomandé’s decision is expected to kick-start club-to-club talks between PSG and RB Leipzig. A contractual agreement on the basis of a five-year deal is already in the works. L’Equipe understands that, in terms of wages, Diomandé will earn less at PSG than he would have at Liverpool. The same could be said about Leipzig. Indeed, Diomandé’s definitive transfer fee is expected to be lower than the €100m+ bids that Liverpool submitted to the Bundesliga side. To conduct negotiations with RB Leipzig, PSG have an asset up their sleeves: Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s close relationship with Oliver Mintzlaff. The Red Bull CEO is a member of the EFC’s board of directors, the European club’s union which is chaired by the PSG president. PSG owners, Qatar Sports Investments, and Red Bull also collaborate on other matters. PSG intend to act swiftly in order to rely on Diomandé as soon as his post-World Cup holidays are over.
