Jersey end perfect season with Cherry Godfrey Cup win

Jersey's players added the Cherry Godfrey Cup to the Muratti Vase they won last month [BBC] Jersey's women ended a perfect season with victory in the Cherry Godfrey Cup. The island side, representing Jersey Bulls, won every game in their first season in English league football before going on to beat Guernsey 6-1 in the Muratti Vase last month. They were 3-0 winners in their semi-final against the Isle of Wight in Guernsey thanks to goals from Sofia Rodrigues, Roisin Flynn and Holly Sundby. Jersey then went on to beat defending champions Isle of Man 6-5 on penalties after the two sides drew 1-1 at Victoria Park. Tiff Sundby scored the winning spot-kick after team-mate Natasha Keen's goal in the 88th minute had levelled the scores at 1-1. "Isle of Man are always for us the benchmark, always in the Island Games medal matches and they won this a couple of years ago," Jersey manager Chad Morris told BBC Radio Jersey. "It was a really tough, physical game, so you've got to match it and better it to get a foothold in the game to give yourself a chance. "A lot of these players have won every single game they have played this season now, which is a good stat in itself. "I'm not going to lie, I'm not sure it gets better than lifting the trophy on Guernsey soil."
