Journalist: Premier League club has ‘opened talks’ to sign Liverpool star Premier League Club In Talks Over Move for Liverpool Star Liverpool’s midfield was one of their biggest weaknesses in their disastrous title defence last season. The Reds are thought to be planning on bolstering their midfield options this summer. Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment, but others such as Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and AFC Bournemouth’s Alex Scott have also been linked. However, a current Liverpool midfielder could be heading for the exit door first and that player is Curtis Jones. Photo: IMAGO The 25-year-old’s future came under immense scrutiny after a late move from Inter Milan in the January transfer window. And now, with one year remaining on his contract, an exit feels closer than ever. Liverpool have already rejected two offers from Inter and are standing firm on their £40m valuation of the player. However, a Premier League club is reportedly pushing to sign Jones. Forest In Talks For Jones According to transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, Nottingham Forest have opened talks to sign Jones this summer. Speaking on X, he said: “Nottingham Forest are interested in Curtis Jones. Opened talks with Liverpool to try and sign him for 35-40M.” “Ready for the midfielder a contract until 2031.” This is an interesting development. Following the £116m departure of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest certainly have the money to meet Liverpool’s asking price. However, it remains to be seen whether Jones would be open to a move to a side that finished 16th after a turbulent season battling relegation with four different managers. For Liverpool, their stance remains unchanged. They would sanction an exit if their asking price is met. But they are also willing to keep Jones as he heads into the final year of his deal, if the right money isn’t offered this summer. Jones’ Situation The 25-year-old seemed to be looking for a move after a frustrating season under Arne Slot. Despite the struggles of both Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, he couldn’t secure a proper run in the side until the final eight games of the season where he was deployed as a right-back. A move to Serie A champions Inter Milan was seemingly a move that he was willing to make, but that move is off as it stands. Tottenham Hotspur were another club mentioned previously, but they seem to be prioritising a move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.
