Official | Bordeaux banned from all national-level competitions Bordeaux’s dire situation significantly worsened on Tuesday with the DNCG – Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion, French football’s financial watchdog – handing Les Girondins a ban from all national-level football competitions. DNCG expected Bordeaux to secure a €9m cash injection in order to balance the budget for the past season as well as to ensure funding for the upcoming campaign. The money never arrived. Plagued by financial issues and mismanagement that sent them to French football’s fourth-tier, Bordeaux are in the process of being taken over by a British investmend fund, Sparta Capital. The club has announced that they will appeal the decision. “ This appeal process will allow FC Girondins de Bordeaux to finalize the financing for the 2026-2027 season and to present all updated information to the DNCG’s appeals committee, which will convene in approximately fifteen days .” But as it stands, Bordeaux are out of France’s national-level competitions. Should their appeal prove unsuccessful, Les Girondins will, at best, feature in Régionale 1, France’s sixth-tier. GFFN | Bastien Cheval
