Confirmed: Barcelona seal second summer exit as Ansu Fati joins AS Monaco FC Barcelona have officially announced that Ansu Fati has left the club permanently, signing for Ligue 1 club AS Monaco. The 23-year-old La Masia graduate spent the last season on loan at the Principality club, who have now activated their €11 million purchase option to sign him permanently. As part of the agreement, Barcelona will retain a percentage of any future sale on the young Spanish attacker. “FC Barcelona and AS Monaco have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ansu Fati,” the club statement read. “The 23-year-old striker brings to an end his time as a blaugrana after making 123 appearances for the first team, scoring 29 goals. The Club retains a percentage of any future sale.” Ansu says goodbye Fati joined La Masia all the way back in 2012 as a ten-year old and quickly rose through the ranks at the club. The young attacker made his first-team debut under Ernesto Valverde during the 2019/20 campaign, at the age of 16 years. Fati was soon regarded as the future of this Barcelona team, but injuries halted his promising career. Despite that, the club retained total faith in the Spanish starlet and even handed him the No. 10 shirt after Lionel Messi’s departure. However, things did not work out for Ansu as injuries kept hampering him, eventually forcing Barcelona to loan him out to Brighton & Hove Albion during the second half of the 2023/24 season. Fati spent the last campaign on loan at Monaco, where he showed signs of recovering his form and fitness. Now, he has signed for the Ligue 1 club permanently. “FC Barcelona would like to thank Ansu Fati publicly for his commitment, dedication and his contribution during his time as a Blaugrana , and wishes him all the best for the future both on and off the field,” the club statement concluded.
