Personal terms not an issue if Arsenal move for Newcastle signing

Personal terms not an issue if Arsenal move for Newcastle signing Personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue if Arsenal make another move for Bruno Guimaraes, but Newcastle United continue to insist he isn’t for sale. Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images Arsenal haven’t been offered a lot of encouragement in their pursuit of Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes so far, but one positive update comes from James McNicholas of The Athletic . McNicholas reports that personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue if Arsenal can agree a deal with Newcastle united, which at least removes one hurdle. But McNicholas adds that Newcastle’s position remains that the player is not for sale, and that Arsenal are still yet to contact them or submit a bid directly. Their only proposal came through intermediaries. Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images Reports from Globo Esporte in Brazil that Guimaraes has a £60m release clause in his contract were played down this week, with Lee Ryder reporting for Chronicle Live that Newcastle have disputed that any kind of release clause exists. Guimaraes did have a £100m release clause in 2024, but it expired in June of that year. Ryder added in another piece that Arsenal believe a £65m bid could be enough to do a deal for Guimaraes, but again, they’re yet to make a formal approach. Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images Arsenal are certainly in the market for a midfielder this summer, and Guimaraes is coming off the back of a good season. Whilst Newcastle struggled on the whole, the Brazilian international scored nine goals and assisted eight in 41 appearances before jetting off to the World Cup, where he has four assists in four games. At 28, the player should still have a few good years ahead of him, though Arsenal will be reticent to pay anything like the amount they put up for a 24-year-old Declan Rice . It’s unlikely Guimaraes would be worth a huge amount another four or five years down the line, so that’s going to affect how much the Gunners will be willing to offer.
