Soucek's ankle ligament injury to be assessed
[Getty Images] West Ham United will further assess midfielder Tomas Soucek's ankle injury later this week. The 31-year-old sustained ligament damage to his left ankle during Czech Republic's final World Cup group game against Mexico last Thursday. Soucek appeared to roll his ankle while attempting to close down Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, and was helped off the pitch by team-mates before being stretchered away in the 87th minute of the match. West Ham United's performance director Richard Collinge told the club's website: "Tomas will return to London later this week for further evaluation and assessment on his ankle before a final decision is made on the best form of injury management, with the aim of returning to action as soon as possible."
