Barcelona sense bargain deal for Liverpool forward whose value has plummeted Liverpool are eyeing up big changes to their frontline this summer. Last year the Reds - who were then the Premier League defending champions - spent £450m on new players. Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were among the headline arrivals for a remodelled strike line. Sadly for Arne Slot the Anfield side got worse - not better - and it cost him his job. Liverpool slumped from first to fifth with Wirtz and Isak in particular struggling for an impact. Wirtz and Isak struggle for consistency Wirtz cost a fee that could reach £116m - then a British record - when coming on board from Bayer Leverkusen. And Isak was even more expensive with Liverpool having to pay £125m to sign him from Newcastle on a six-year deal. But the Sweden international endured a nightmare first season on Merseyside - suffering several injury problems including a broken leg. Isak only scored four times in total before heading off to the FIFA World Cup - where he has come into a bit of encouraging form. Isak now on Barca's list Reports from Spain - including one in Mundo Deportivo - are now claiming that Barcelona have been in attendance to scout Isak in North America. The Catalans sense a chance for a deal for Isak - whose transfer value has diminished significantly over the last year or so. Robert Lewandowski has left the club on a free to join Chicago Fire - with it being reckoned that Julian Alvarez is Barca’s No1 choice to replace him.
