'This is the step I wanted to make to develop as a player' - Struijk

[Getty Images] Brighton's football style was a big reason to join the club, says latest recruit Pascal Struijk. Brighton signed the defender from Leeds United on Tuesday, and the 26-year-old explained the running of the club is what influenced him to move to the south east. "For me, I like the way Brighton develop players," Struijk told the club website . "What you've seen over the years and the way they run the club, it's been pretty successful and now achieving Europe, for me this is the step I wanted to make to of course develop as a player, but also to challenge myself and overall become a better player again. "The way they play football is a very important one. It's nice to watch - very intense, very good on the ball and of course, seeing the results that you achieved against the top teams are very nice to look at. Winning these games by dominating the play and dominating the game and showing basically all the players and their qualities - it's something I would love to be a part of and I am a part of now." Brighton will play in Europe for the second time in three years next season when they take to the Conference League play-offs in August, and Struijk explained this feat is also partly why he chose the Seagulls. "When you dream as a kid you always dream about playing in international competitions so seeing Brighton achieved that is of course a big decision for me to join the club," he added "There are different factors but this of course is a really important one that I would like to challenge myself with and hopefully we can be successful. "I would love to show my qualities and what I can bring to the team on the Premier League and international level, and hopefully we can be successful with me bringing the qualities that I have and of course the qualities that are already in the team."
