Charlton sign Dundee defender Koumetio
Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Dundee centre-back Billy Koumetio for an undisclosed fee. The French defender, 23, has signed a four-year deal with the Championship club, marking a return to England for the former Liverpool player. "The manager [Nathan Jones] spoke to me about the vision that he has for the club and for the players as well," Koumetio told Charlton's website. "From that day when I spoke to him, I realised this was the best move I could make for my career." BBC Sport Scotland reported on Tuesday that Dundee had accepted offers for Koumetio and fellow centre-back Luke Graham, and that both had left the club's training camp in Hungary. Koumetio has now completed his move to Charlton, after making 44 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership club. While at Liverpool, he had a brief spell on loan at Blackburn Rovers towards the end of the 2023-24 season but did not make a Championship appearance. Koumetio's only appearance for Liverpool came as a substitute in a Champions League game in December 2020, against FC Midtjylland, when he became the youngest player, at that time, to feature for Liverpool in the competition. He becomes Charlton's second signing of the summer, after Slovakia defender Ivan Mesik joined on Tuesday from Dutch club Heracles Almelo for an undisclosed fee.
