Official I Atlético Madrid’s Clément Lenglet loaned to Benfica with a mandatory buy-out clause SL Benfica have officially announced the signing of Atlético Madrid’s Clément Lenglet (30). The deal takes the form of a loan until the end of the 2026-27 season, followed by a mandatory extension until 2029. Having made 24 appearances (21 as a starter) in all competitions for the Colchoneros during the 2025-26 season, the centre-back was no longer part of Diego Simeone’s plans, who had brought him in from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2024 before signing him on a free transfer a year ago. With considerable experience at the highest level – including 60 Champions League appearances – the Beauvais-born player joins the Lisbon club to fill the void left by the departure of Nicolás Otamendi (38), who has in turn joined Boca Juniors. A French international with 16 caps (one goal), Lenglet is set to experience the fifth league of his career, having previously played in La Liga, the Premier League, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
