Pereira 'brought smiles back' but 'fans will be excited by Glasner'

[Getty Images] When Vitor Pereira was appointed, many saw it as a short-term appointment and not many saw him going beyond the season. But then many did perhaps not expect it to go as well as it did. A brilliant unbeaten run to secure safety, a European semi-final and some fantastic performances. He brought smiles back around the place and the team looked like they were expressing themselves. This summer there are loads of managerial changes and it looked like Forest were going to be the one with a bit of stability, so it has absolutely come as a shock. But if you look at the calibre of the man they are looking to bring in, then the idea Forest are able to get someone like Oliver Glasner will soften the blow and excite them about what might come in the future under him. Supporters will forever be grateful that Pereira came in at the time he did and rescued what had been a chaotic campaign. At times, fans felt like the season might fall apart and Forest's time in the Premier League might finally be up. The club were a bit of a laughing stock at times but he brought a smile and he was always calm. The players responded really well to him and the supporters enjoyed having him here. But I think fans will be excited by Glasner. He created a winning mentality at Crystal Palace and they weren't a trophy winning team before him but they won three trophies with him. Glasner has been linked with some really big jobs in the Premier League and beyond. Instead he's joining Forest, who aren't in Europe, so this is quite a coup to be able to get one of the managerial hot properties of the moment. He has been very successful in recent years and he wants to continue winning trophies. If they can get Glasner in for next season then there will be a huge amount of optimism about what he can achieve at Forest.
