As far as Ter Stegen is concerned, after 12 years at the club, the German international is eager to secure regular playing time and believes Ajax offer the right environment to achieve that objective. Within Barcelona’s current goalkeeping structure, Ter Stegen finds himself third in the hierarchy, making meaningful minutes difficult to envisage in the coming campaign. That reality has encouraged him to explore alternatives, wherein Ajax have emerged as the preferred destination, not only because of the sporting project but also because it would allow the goalkeeper to reunite with Michel. The coach, who previously worked with Ter Stegen during a loan spell at Girona, has now taken charge of Ajax and is believed to be a strong supporter of bringing the veteran goalkeeper to Amsterdam. As of today, the final decision rests on Barcelona and Ajax finding common ground financially, but all indications suggest that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is ready to begin a new journey away from Camp Nou.
