Former Liverpool coach confirms his next job after Anfield exit
Former Liverpool coach confirms his next job after Anfield exit Sipke Hulshoff Returns to Feyenoord After Liverpool Exit Liverpool Backroom Reset Continues Under Iraola Sipke Hulshoff has officially confirmed his next move after leaving Liverpool, with the former Reds assistant returning to Feyenoord as part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s new coaching team. It is another sign of how quickly things have changed at Anfield. Arne Slot’s time at Liverpool ended on May 30 2026, despite delivering the Premier League title in 2024/25, and Andoni Iraola is now reshaping the club in his own image. Liverpool have already agreed deals to bring Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper into Iraola’s backroom staff. Pablo de la Torre has also arrived as assistant coach, while Tom Webber is set to join as first-team tactical coach. Hulshoff Lands Feyenoord Role Hulshoff joined Liverpool as part of Slot’s setup in 2024 and played a role in a remarkable first season that ended with the Premier League trophy. That success now feels part of a previous chapter, with Liverpool moving towards a new structure under Iraola. Photo IMAGO Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been reappointed as Feyenoord head coach on a two-year deal, with an option for a further year. Hulshoff will work alongside him as assistant, also signing a two-year contract with an option for an additional year. Technical Director Devy Rigaux said: ‘The partnership between Van Bronckhorst and Hulshoff, which was further developed and strengthened in England, provides Feyenoord with a complementary coaching duo that combines international experience, a winning mentality and in-depth knowledge of the club. We are therefore delighted to welcome them both back to Rotterdam.” Feyenoord Move Makes Sense For Hulshoff, this is a return to familiar ground. He previously worked in Feyenoord’s academy, served as an assistant with the Netherlands national team, and was part of the staff during Feyenoord’s 2022-23 Eredivisie title win and their KNVB Cup triumph the following year. That background matters. Feyenoord know what they are getting, and Hulshoff knows the rhythm of the club. After a high-pressure spell at Liverpool, this feels like a logical next step rather than a sideways move. Liverpool Enter New Coaching Era Liverpool’s own transition is now firmly underway. Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roderick van der Ham have all departed, giving Iraola space to build a staff aligned with his methods. Hulshoff posted on his Instagram page : “After two fantastic years at Liverpool FC, I’ve now embarked on a wonderful new challenge at Feyenoord Rotterdam.” For Liverpool, the focus turns to Iraola’s first pre-season. For Hulshoff, it is back to Rotterdam, back to Feyenoord, and back to a club where his coaching story already carries weight.
