The big difference between Real Madrid statements on Chelsea and Bayern stars which gives major clues Reports yesterday clarified that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is ‘obsessed’ with Michael Olise and that he is ready to go all out to sign the player. The Bayern Munich star, reportedly, is Perez’s dream target with the president even being willing to splash his entire transfer budget on him. Needless to say, however, the update is quite anti-climactic especially given that Real Madrid released a recent official statement distancing themselves from Olise, as they also did with Enzo Fernandez. The key nuance As relayed by Fabrizio Romano , there is a critical nuance in the wording of their official notice regarding Olise which keeps the operation alive, as opposed to what they announced in the Enzo Fernandez case. They did not, however, state that they are not interested in the player. Real Madrid’s statement on the Frenchman, thus, was only to not upset Bayern Munich but Olise very much remains a part of Los Blancos’ plans. The situations of Fernandez and Olise are thus completely different. A special partnership As is evident from the performances of the French national team in the FIFA World Cup so far, Olise and Kylian Mbappe enjoy a special relationship and understanding on the field. For Real Madrid to sign him, thus, is a no-brainer as it will immediately improve the team’s attacking output manifold. Moreover, Olise plays on the right wing, the exact department where the club have a serious void. It thus only makes sense for Real Madrid to go after him with everything they have got. He could well be the signing that changes the outlook of the attack.
