Mourinho wants Real Madrid to sign a new striker with a key trait – report
Mourinho wants Real Madrid to sign a new striker with a key trait – report Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid’s best centre-forward option, but the club have always maintained that they prefer keeping a specialist finisher for games that get complicated. After all, Mbappe is a winger converted to a striker, and Los Blancos see the need for an out-and-out finisher who can poach balls in front of goal. Gonzalo Garcia and Endrick, on that front, have been the club’s two most likely options to persist with. While the former’s future has been called into question, the latter is expected to have a certain role under Jose Mourinho. Lacking one quality Now, though, as reported by Mario Cortegana via Defensa Central , Mourinho values both Garcia and Endrick but sees both players as lacking one critical characteristic he wants in his striker – height. However, he does not see either of the two young options as having that ability. Mourinho has had such a profile in all his teams so far and has managed to extract the best out of them. For his next mission at Real Madrid, he once again wishes to count on a similar profile and has thus requested the signing. Still not a priority As reported by the same outlet, Real Madrid’s priorities continue to be a centre-back and a creative midfielder, and the striker is below them on the priority chart. Gonzalo Garcia’s exit is on hold for now. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images) First, however, the club must finalise departures before a new arrival can be agreed on, and all efforts are currently being channeled in that direction. As matters stand, Gonzalo Garcia’s departure from the club has been placed on hold and his future will be decided based on Real Madrid’s ability to sign a ‘tall’ striker that Mourinho desires. If such a player cannot be signed, there is a good chance the academy star will be kept in the first-team to provide that lethal finishing option, although he is not Mourinho’s first choice. All decisions, needless to say, will ultimately boil down to the number of departures Real Madrid manage, and the number of signings they can afford.
