Incredible! Michael Edwards exploring the transfer of the summer for Liverpool Michael Edwards could be exploring the transfer of the summer for Liverpool. It has not been an easy start to the window for the Reds. They had been forced into a managerial change after Arne Slot's position became untenable and then they had missed out on their primary target after Yan Diomande decided he favoured a move to Paris Saint Germain. This compounded by the fact that a World Cup taking place has stalled the market has left Liverpool with a lot of work to do. The Reds have lost some key personnel this summer, and could lose more in the coming weeks with speculation surrounding several of the club's midfielders and attackers. Who knows what the future holds for Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones - all of whom appear to be open to a move away from Anfield. On top of that, having to replace Mo Salah is not going to be easy. Liverpool have at least already brought in some replacements for Ibrahima Konate thanks to Jeremy Jacquet. But there is much more to come. We've not even mentioned the possibility of needing to bring in a right-back and a left-back as well, especially with Andy Robertson having departed and Kostas Tsimikas also set to follow suit. So, Liverpool are going to have to work quickly in the coming weeks and have a lot of tricks up their sleeve. Fortunately, they have one of the best people in the business supporting the recruitment team in Michael Edwards. He is someone who has proven time and time again that he has an excellent track-record of finding gems under the radar and turning them into superstars. He's going to have to do a lot of that this summer because there aren't real obvious targets available on the market. It's probably one of the most difficult markets at the moment, with lots of prices being inflated and players like Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, who are admittedly very talented, going for absolutely ridiculous prices. Now in that environment, when every club is looking to gain a huge profit on their star players, it's even more difficult for Liverpool to find bargains and build a squad necessary for Andoni Iraola's football to work. But it looks like Edwards is back to doing his old tricks again, and Liverpool could be about to pull off the move of the summer as they are reportedly exploring a really exciting transfer that would make so much sense on so many levels. One player who definitely is unlikely to have a future in Liverpool's system under Iraola is Harvey Elliott. He was already a little out of depth under Jurgen Klopp, and didn't quite seem to fit into Arne Slot's nor Unai Emery's plans. There is a very talented player hiding within Elliott, he's someone who will go onto have a very good career. However, he needs to go elsewhere in order to make that happen. He needs a new lease of life. A new club to thrive at. And it looks like Edwards is recognising that. Because he's about to pull off something that could be incredible. According to Danny Gallagher , who is a sports editor at Reach PLC, Liverpool are exploring the logistics of a move that would see Harvey Elliott move to Crystal Palace and Adam Wharton moving to Anfield. It would be the most brilliant transfer of all time. But definitely this summer. Elliott moving to Palace will reduce the hefty fee they would want for Wharton. In the process, Liverpool would be getting rid of a player they didn't really want nor need in order to sign one of the best young midfielders in England, who they definitely want. It's just simply incredible.
