Shrewsbury handed transfer ban over late payment
Shrewsbury will still be able to sign free agents and secure loan deals [Getty Images] Shrewsbury Town have been placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL over a late payment for a loan agreement. The League Two club will be unable to buy players for the rest of the summer transfer window which closes on Tuesday, 1 September. Town will still be able to sign free agents and loan players throughout the remainder of the window. "The restriction follows a late payment to a club in relation to a loan agreement, which was made outside the timescale required under EFL regulations," said a club statement. "As soon as the club became aware the payment had not been made as expected, the outstanding amount was settled in full immediately." Shrewsbury boss Gavin Cowan has brought in four free agents so far this summer - defenders Byron Pendleton and Arkell Jude-Boyd, striker Josh Davison and midfielder Jack Price. They also signed Barrow midfielder Isaac Fletcher last month for an undisclosed fee. All the latest Shrewsbury Town news
