‘An incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country’ – Kylian Mbappé condemns Paraguayan senator’s racist outburst France national team captain Kylian Mbappé (27) has released a statement on X to condemn in strong terms Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla’s racist and slur-filled outburst after Les Bleus defeated the Albirroja in the 2026 FIFA World Cup’s last-16 stage. Mbappé’s 70th-minute coolly-taken spotkick proved the difference in a tense and hardly-fought contest in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the tension remained after the final whistle with Amarilla writing several shocking and aggresive posts on X , describing Mbappé as “ a colonised Cameroonian passing himself off as French ” and an illiterate “ brute “. Two days after France’s victory, Mbappé responded to Amarilla, calling her a despicable woman, unworthy of her position. “ You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honour throughout the competition”, Mbappé wrote. “ Through your recklessness and brazen racism, the whole world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country.” Mbappé, who currently leads the World Cup’s goalscoring charts with Norway’s Erling Haaland Argentina’s Lionel Messi, concluded his statement by stating he’ll never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world. Mbappé’s comments have been backed and echoed by the Fédération Française de Football . The French FA slated Amarilla’s slurs as “ utterly abhorrent and unacceptable ” and reported the matter to the public prosecutor’s office with a view to open legal proceedings. GFFN | Bastien Cheval
