Photo by Luke Hales/Getty Images Mexican outlet El Universal reports that the Club Tijuana hierarchy know it’s only a matter of time before Gilberto Mora leaves their club for Europe, and they’ve set a buyout clause at around $25m (£18.7m). El Universal at that some clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, are already planning to pay that amount to sign the 17-year-old. El Universal’s claims follow a report from De Telegraaf last week that Arsenal are in the mix for Mora, with that report adding that the player is said to want to wait until he turns 18 before making a move to Europe. Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images But that’s unlikely to be an issue for Arsenal’s pursuit, as Mora’s background as a Mexican national means he wouldn’t be able to sign for a Premier League club until he turned 18 anyway. The Gunners could only sign him to a pre-contract deal. Mora turns 18 in October, after the summer transfer window has closed, but he could make a move as soon as the next January window. As mentioned, the teenager currently plays for Club Tijuana in the Mexican first-tier, and he made 20 appearances in 2025/26, scoring six goals and assisting another. As well as midfield, Mora can operate on the left, or even at centre-forward. He made three starts up front last season, scoring one goal.
