Lewes' Lane and Ipswich's Seaby join Glasgow City
Glasgow City have signed wingers Leah Lane from Lewes and Ruby Seaby, an England youth cap, from Ipswich Town. Both have signed three-year contracts with the Scottish Women's Premier League club. English 21-year-old Lane won club player of the year awards after scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists as Lewes finished fifth in the Women's National League South, the English third tier, last season. Lane said: "I'm really excited to get started and looking forward to the new challenge of stepping into a professional environment in a new league." City head coach Leanne Ross said: "Leah is an exciting young talent." Meanwhile, she was "really excited" to bring Seaby's "exuberance to the squad". "She has pace, is direct with the ball and is also hungry to assist and score goals," Ross said. Still only 19 and having come through Arsenal's academy, Seaby helped Ipswich win the Southern Premier Division and promotion to the second tier for the first time. However, after featuring for Ipswich in Women's Super League 2 at the start of last season, she ended it as a team-mate of Lane on loan to Lewes. A "buzzing" Seaby said: "I've heard a lot of good things about the league and I think it's going to push me physically and technically, so I'm excited to test myself."
