They have already completed the signing of Andrew Robertson and secured a deal for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi . Tottenham also have an interest in Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke. Their first two bids for the Dutchman have been rejected . Van Hecke is keen on joining Tottenham, with Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi pushing for the move, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano . The 26-year-old worked under De Zerbi at Brighton, making 50 appearances under him, before the Italian left the Seagulls in 2024. Brighton are not reluctant to sell Van Hecke as he has one year left on his deal. They are still in talks with Tottenham over the transfer of the Netherlands international. Van Hecke has emerged as one of the standout centre-backs in the Premier League. He has been described as one of the ‘ better all-round defenders ‘ in the division. He is aggressive, capable of progressing the ball up the pitch and is also a good passer. He ranked fourth for accurate passes per game in the league last term. Van Hecke is also a dangerous attacking outlet, having contributed six goals involvements last season. Liverpool had reportedly contacted the Brighton centre-back over a move before the dismissal of Arne Slot, while Chelsea are also monitoring his situation . Tottenham are still the front-runners for his signature, as Liverpool and Chelsea have yet to make a formal offer for him. Van Hecke is set to represent the Netherlands at this summer’s World Cup, further underlining why he is wanted by some of England’s top clubs.
