Barcelona offer €20 million plus a future sell-on percentage but Dortmund demand €40 million
Barcelona offer €20 million plus a future sell-on percentage but Dortmund demand €40 million Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi could be on his way to FC Barcelona this summer after the La Liga champions have made an opening offer for the German. This is not the first summer that Jorge Mendes has tried to bring Adeyemi to Barça. The Portuguese super-agent has proposed the German winger to the Catalan club on several occasions. But previous attempts failed because Barça lacked the salary cap flexibility to complete the deal. Now, with the club operating under La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule, Mendes believes the conditions are finally right to complete what he sees as a market opportunity. Barcelona make their move Barcelona have identified Adeyemi as the experienced attacking reinforcement to complement, rather than replace, the younger Roony Bardghji. After determining that the winger could be available at a reasonable price, the club have begun formal negotiations , encouraged by Dortmund’s inability to attract competing offers. According to Sky Germany (h/t SPORT ), Barcelona’s opening proposal has already been submitted. Adeyemi wants to join Barcelona. No agreement has been reached yet, but negotiations are expected to continue over the coming days. Gap remains between clubs As the transfer window has progressed, Dortmund have gradually lowered their asking price, although they have still been unable to finalise a sale. According to the report, though, Dortmund continue to value Adeyemi at around €40 million, a figure Barcelona considers excessive given the circumstances. Several factors weaken Dortmund’s negotiating position. For starters, the player has only one year remaining on his contract. Furthermore, he was not an undisputed starter last season and his performances have been inconsistent over the past two campaigns. Agreement yet to be finalised. Player exchanges remain an option One possibility being considered is including a player in the deal to reduce the overall transfer fee. Earlier in the summer, Dortmund were linked with Roony Bardghji, who has yet to secure a move elsewhere. The winger wants to leave Barcelona in search of regular playing time and hopes to establish himself at a major European club competing for trophies. Dortmund is viewed as an attractive destination. Another player admired by the German club is Guille Fernández, the attacking midfielder from Barça Atletic, who is also represented by Mendes. Dortmund previously made enquiries about Fernandez during the January transfer window, but the clubs failed to reach an agreement.
