Real Madrid make sweeping medical staff changes following injury-plagued season

Real Madrid make sweeping medical staff changes following injury-plagued season Real Madrid have launched a significant restructuring of their medical department as the club look to put an end to the injury problems that disrupted last season.  According to The Athletic , the overhaul is already underway, marking another major change behind the scenes before the start of the 2026/27 campaign. The latest Real Madrid news confirms that the club believe improvements away from the pitch are just as important as strengthening the squad, particularly after an injury-hit season that affected almost every member of the first team. Real Madrid overhaul medical department According to the aforementioned outlet, Niko Mihic will oversee the restructuring of the Real Madrid medical department, with Alexandre Creuze, currently the head of Monaco’s medical team, expected to join the club in the coming weeks. The changes will also bring an end to the roles of Felipe Segura and Manolo Arroyo, both of whom are expected to leave. Real Madrid suffered multiple injuries last season. The club viewed that episode as a catalyst for bigger changes to its medical structure, with senior figures believing a fresh approach was needed. By bringing in Creuze alongside Mihic, Real Madrid hope to modernise the department and improve both injury prevention and rehabilitation ahead of a demanding new season. Real Madrid seek fresh start under Mourinho The timing of the overhaul coincides with Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid.  The Portuguese manager is set to begin work on Friday, holding meetings with club staff before the players return for medical tests and pre-season training on Monday. According to the report, back in December 2025, senior figures at the club linked the mounting injury list to shortcomings in the way fitness and recovery were being managed.  That assessment led to several internal adjustments, including Antonio Pintus returning to a more hands-on role with the first team after spending a period with reduced responsibilities. Shortly afterwards, Mihic’s responsibilities also increased, while Segura remained at the club in a less influential position before the latest restructuring.
