'Long-term target' Glasner 'the right person to take us forward' - chairman

[Getty Images] Nottingham Forest chairman Nicholas Randall KC says that despite the "fantastic job" done by Vitor Pereira, new head coach Oliver Glasner is the "right person" to take the club forward. Forest appointed former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as their fifth head coach in less than a year on Monday. He replaces Pereira, who guided the club to 16th - five points clear of the relegation zone - and the Europa League semi-finals after succeeding Sean Dyche in February. The Portuguese was sacked two minutes before an exit clause in his contract was due to expire. Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham about Glasner, Randall said: "He's been a long-term target. One of the best young coaches in Europe - I think he's widely recognised as being that. I think the fans have said it all in their response to the appointment. "Vitor did a fantastic job for us, as others have done, but Oliver seems like he has the right CV, the right experience and the right ambition to take us to the next level. "We're all quietly excited with the appointment and look forward to the new season. "We have to keep pushing. The ownership group and the board saw this as an opportunity we needed to take because, although Vitor did a great job for us, we see Oliver as the right person to take us forward. "The ownership is very clear and always delivers if it promises something to a manager. It's a fantastic club, fantastic fans, room for growth. "The core of the team is excellent. We can look towards the future with real conviction and justified optimism." Listen to the full chat on BBC Sounds
