Real Madrid superstar duo to join Jose Mourinho’s pre-season towards the end of July
Real Madrid superstar duo to join Jose Mourinho’s pre-season towards the end of July Jose Mourinho’s first pre-season as the Real Madrid manager after his recent appointment is set to kick off next week, with players scheduled to undergo their medical examinations as early as Monday. The Portuguese coach will look to drill his ideas into the dressing room from day one as he hopes to produce a complete turnaround in the club’s performances after two trophy-less campaigns. Given the ongoing FIFA World Cup, however, the manager will likely not have many of the big names at his disposal for most of the pre-season tournament, given that players will receive close to three weeks off at least after the end of their World Cup campaign. When will the Brazilian contingent return? Brazil suffered a shock elimination at the hands of Norway in the Round of 16 of the ongoing World Cup, ending yet another campaign in pure heartbreak. Vinicius Jr. and Endrick, both of whom were in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, are expected to be back under Jose Mourinho’s command by July 28th. Considering that Brazil were eliminated in the first week of July, the date will give them a solid three weeks off to reset before returning to club duty. When will the others join? Mourinho will start the preseason with Real Madrid’s youth stars, uncalled players and injured names and will start seeing World Cup returnees arriving from the second week of preseason. Germany’s Antonio Rudiger and the Netherlands’ Denzel Dumfries will then return next following their eliminations in the Round of 32, possibly a week after Valverde and Guler return. The Brazilian contingent, as mentioned above, will be the next to join towards the end of the month. Players like Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni and Marc Cucurella, who are still at the event, will be late to join and are not expected back until August.
